El joc de pilota a València
I have devoted myself, almost without intending to, several times to the figure of Francesc Almela i Vives: prologue writer (Valencia y su reino), editor (Escritos taurinos), disseminator… Now I add the facet of translator: from Spanish to Valencian, in a work and a context that allowed me to resort to different linguistic registers, and to a language more Valencianized than could be expected. El joc de pilota a València [The Ball Game in Valencia], whose first volume edition dates back to 1960, gathers several texts by Almela on this popular Valencian game, among which the link with Basque pelota could not be missing.
