Alma
Alma is still one of my favorite books. It is a short novel set in a post-apocalyptic urban landscape that tells a story of obsessive love between the character that gives its name to the work and Atom, an alter ego of mine. I remember writing this text at night, locked in my room after returning from working at the Paris-Valencia bookstore on Pelayo Street, and playing the soundtrack of Exotica (Atom Egoyan, 1994) over and over again. Alma was published by Jesús Rodrigo in that wonderful project that was Ediciones de la Mirada and the film magazine Banda Aparte. The photograph that illustrates the cover is by Castellón photographer Pilar Záforas.
