El naixement de la platja [El nacimiento de la playa] is the “catalog” of a small installation carried out on a beach near Valencia in March 2002. I copy a fragment of the note that accompanies the photographs: “without realizing it, I began to trace, among rotten oranges, among pieces of nets, among stones and bottles, a series of lines on the sand. I did it with a finger: I marked a straight line and erased it, drew another and erased it again… But with each pass of the hand, new straight lines were created, and the initial simplicity turned into an impassable crossroads. At a certain moment, I looked towards the waves, drew two lines ending in a parabola, and placed a row of small stones on top. Everything was silence.”
